Fish Sauce
1 teaspoon (5ml) - for seafood flavor
Soy Sauce
2 tablespoons (30ml) - divided
Ground Pork
1/4 pound (113g) - for wontons
Wonton Wrappers
8-10 wrappers
Minced Garlic
1 teaspoon (5g) - divided
Ginger
1 teaspoon (5g) grated fresh - for wontons
Bacon
3 slices - substitute for traditional roast pork
Bamboo Shoots
1/4 cup (60ml) canned, drained
Green Onion
2 stalks, chopped
Sesame Oil
1/2 teaspoon (2.5ml) - for finishing
Ramen Noodles
1 package (85g) - discard seasoning packet

Instructions

  1. For the wontons: In a small bowl, mix ground pork, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Take wonton wrappers and place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each. Moisten edges with water and fold to seal into a triangle or small package. Set aside.
  2. In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  3. Add the chicken broth, fish sauce (for seafood flavor), and soy sauce to create the multi-dimensional broth base. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a skillet, cook bacon slices until crispy. Set aside on paper towels to drain excess fat.
  5. Drop the prepared wontons into the simmering broth and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they float and are cooked through.
  6. In a separate pot, cook the ramen noodles according to package directions, then drain well.
  7. Place cooked noodles in a bowl, arrange the cooked wontons around the edge, and ladle the hot broth over everything.
  8. Top with crispy bacon slices (as a substitute for traditional roast pork), drained canned bamboo shoots, and chopped green onions.
  9. For extra flavor, add a small drizzle of sesame oil on top.
  10. Serve immediately while hot.
